7mm-6.5 PRCW

OK we got the 7-6.5 PRCW rifle built, turned out pretty nice, Im very impressed with this Pure Precision SKLTN action so far, 8lbs 1oz scoped, I gotta say those Gunwerks Clymer stocks are pretty nice as well.

Now to load up some bullets and get to the range.

Thank you, yeh so far so good, resized a bunch of brass up last night, I'll load them up today with 140gr Accubonds and 139gr CX

Nice to have finally met you guys,

When you resized did you just neck up brass with a mandrel ? I was reading somewhere when you upsize you can get donuts around the neck and I’m not setup for trimming just yet and curious if I will need to.

Ive never had donuts from upsizing, but necking down with a bushing its common to see donuts as the bushing in the die doesnt go 100% all the way to the neck/shoulder junction so you will see a slight donut there.

If you use a Fl sizer die and neck up or down donuts aren't as common in my experience. Ive taken 300 WSM brass and necked down to 270 wsm and vice versa with no donut. Same with taking say 243 win brass and running it through a 308 FL sizer, no donut.
Ive taken 6.5-284 brass and necked it down to 22-284 brass. I just ran it through a 6-284 FL sizer, no donut to be found, but taking that 6-284 brass and running it through a 6.5-284 bushing die and necking it down to 22 cal for the finished 22-284 there was a slight donut.

Congrats on your new build. Thats a beauty rifle and will be a shooter for sure!

I bought the body mandrel from Cortina Precision so yes I just use resizing wax on the body and inside the neck and run the new brass through that.
For seating I’m just using my 7 SAUM seating die-until my Whidden 7-6.5 PRC die set shows up, I also have a Wilson seater but my arbor press hasn’t shown up yet.
I’m just using a .311 bushing in my Redding 6.5 PRC die to full length size, then the .282 mandrel

I got to the range today with the 7-6.5 PRCW and ran 40 rounds through the barrel, all loads with 55.5grs of N555/215M primers,

20 rounds of 140gr Accubonds were avg 2940 fps, after a cpl good cleanings the groups went from 3/4" to 3/8" and 1/4", definitely liked the AB the best.

10 rounds of the 139gr Hornady CX avg 2945 fps, groups went from 1" to 3/4" and the last group was 1/2"

10 rounds of the 145gr LRX avg 2960 fps and two groups at 1" and one at 3/4", seemed to like these bullets the least, but funny the heavier bullet was faster.

The new Pure Precision action performed flawlessly, feeding and ejecting was very good.

Very nice range report. That accubond load sounds fantastic! The CX sounds promising to bad about the LRX I always want them to shoot the tightest groups.

Making me want to get a barrel chambered!
