7mm Dakota!!!??

I don't have one myself but I do have a 300 and a 338 Dakota. I have two friends that have 7mm Dakota's, they both like the crartidge, they both handload for it and they both claim excellent accuracy. Both of these guys have also used and still own other 7mm's but claim that the Dakota is a very fast and accurate cartridge and this is how they differentiate between it and the others, it has all kinds of speed and is also accurate to boot.
If you are going to play the Dakota game I hope you handload because the factory ammo is expensive. You can also form brass from the RUM cases if you get stuck.

Ballistically it's a 7 Rem/Wby mag without a belt. A few fps quicker, but not much. As to the accuracy, that would be an individual rifle capability, or perhaps it would speak to build quality, rather then a cartridge's accuracy capability. Having said that, the Dakota rifles I have shot were both capable of good hunting accuracy (MOA with the right loads). - dan
