Good day ladies and gentleman,

Let's start a Recipe book for everyone to post their winning recipes in 7 mm family

First and foremost, there are a few things that need to happen here for this post to be successful.

1: We need to stick to a pre-established format.
2: We only post recipes. No congratulations, questions or any other posts than recipes.
3: Questions or congrats to posters about certain recipes to be directed via PM so it doesn't clutter the original post with things other than recipes.

One very important thing, a recipe that works in a firearm may not work in yours. When the recipe is HOT (close or above recommended amount of powder), work your way up to it. . This is serious stuff. It can cause catastrophic failure of your firearm or hurt you or someone. We are mostly all grown ups, let's use our heads if the recipe is hot. WORK UP TO IT.

Here's a format that seems to make sens.

Caliber:
Rifle brand:
Rifle Model:
Custom built:
Barrel length and twist:
Projectile brand, model and weight:
Powder brand and weight:
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX:
Primers:
Coal:
Ogive length:
Brass:
Brass length:
Distance to lands:

Results at 100, 200, 300 (whatever is available)

If available:
Velocity (average):
Outside temperature:
Wind and direction:
Barometric pressure and other relevant data:

Thank you very much everyone and let's make this a successful post for everyone that are getting into reloading a new caliber or are lost in the amount of options available in this caliber. This will also be awesome for anyone who's looking for a start point or simply improve their own recipe or try something else. It will also tremendously simplify the search and the amount of time spent on the search button option and the read through the hundreds of posts and irrelevant reading someone will have to go through in order to get a start point!

We all know that something that does wonders in someone's rifle may not work in someone else's rifle even if it is the exact same thing only a few different serial number away.

Once again, thank you everyone for your participation in this recipe and let's make it a go to for anyone who needs it.

Caliber: 7mm Rem Mag
Rifle brand: Savage
Rifle Model: LRH
Custom built: No
Barrel length and twist: 24", 9.5
Projectile brand, model and weight: Hornady ELD-M, 162gr
Powder brand and weight: IMR 7977
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX: 69.8gr, Hodgdon lists a max of 69.5gr. (I have shot approx. 500 rds at a lower node, 67.2gr, and it is an excellent, very accurate load in my rifle but the velocity is low @ 2875 ft/s.)
Primers: #250 CCI
Coal: 3.370"
Ogive length: No data.
Brass: Hornady
Brass length: 2.495"
Distance to lands: .060"

Results at 100, 200, 300 (whatever is available): Not a lot of results at this point...was trying this load yesterday for the first time after shooting a higher end OCW test a couple of weeks ago. With the OCW I had 5 shots in one ragged hole, approx. 1/2" @ 100m. (I will try and post a picture when I get home. Light wind, -17° C.) Other than that I ran 20 over a magnetospeed yesterday...groups POI was way off and group size seemed to suffer as well. (I lost 5 data points as I messed up when I saved it, so the data below will be a 15 shot avg.) I then shot 4 3-shot groups, all sub moa at 200 yds, with 2 of the groups around or slightly under 1/2 moa. (I didn't take any pictures of that target and didn't have a tape measure on me so you will have to take my word on that.)

Velocity (average): 3043 ft/s (15 shots)
Outside temperature: -3° C
Wind and direction: 0-5 km/hr @ 280° heading, shooting @ 90° heading
Barometric pressure and other relevant data: I don't have a Kestrel so I am unsure, approx. 2700' elevation.

NOTE: I am not entirely certain this load will be safe in warmer temperatures...there are no real signs of pressure on the brass/primers but I was having some sticky bolt issues. I believe that may be due to the fact that the brass was on its 5th firing and has only been neck sized up until now, ie the bolt was tough to close as well as open on a few of the cartridges. Time to full length resize I suppose...I will update when I have tried with full length sized brass. The brass has been mainly fired at the lower charge of 67.2gr of IMR 7977.

Update: No sticky bolt lift with full length sized cases...I am really liking this load. Attached pic of a group I shot today...my personal best! (.153 moa not .27, was excited and forgot to subtract the bullet diameter.)

Rifle brand: tikka
Rifle Model: t3 left hand
Custom built:nope
Barrel length and twist: 24" 9.5
Projectile brand, model and weight: hornady 162 eldx
Powder brand and weight: imr7828 69gr
LOAD CONSIDERED HOT OR CLOSE TO MAX: certainly. 4 gr over Max but still no pressure signs
Primers: CCI 250
Coal: 3.370
Ogive length: not sure
Brass: winchester
Brass length: 2.495 iirc
Distance to lands: .1"
Its a warm load and I probably won't shoot it when it warms up but my velocity and pressure signs are telling me I'm not maxed out and after 4 reloads my primer pockets are still tight. 3000fps

Caliber: 7mm STW
Rifle Brand: Remington
Rifle Model: 721 Long Action
Custom: Shilen Match Barrel
Barrel: 26" length, 1:9" Twist
Bullet: Nosler Accubond Long Range 175 gr.
Powder: H1000 77.2 gr.
Close To Max: 78 gr. Listed Max Load
Primer: CCI LR Magnum
COL: 3.6"
Brass: Nosler 7mm STW
Trim Length: 2.85"

Results: 0.5 MOA 5 Shot Group @ 200 Yards
Velocity: 3145 fps (std dev 9) Chronygraphed
Outside Temp: 4 deg C
Wind: 10 km/hr WSW, shooting North

The ballistics of this load is unbelievable all the way out to 1000 yards.

Caliber: 7mm Remington Magnum
Rifle brand: Tikka
Rifle Model: T3 Stainless in B&C sporter stock
Custom built: I installed the stock if that counts
Barrel length and twist: 24" 9.5
Bullet: 150 Barnes TTSX
Powder: H1000 73.5gr
LOAD IS VERY CLOSE TO HODGDON'S MAX LOAD DATA; DO NOT COPY THIS LOAD OR USE THIS INFORMATION FOR LOAD DATA.
Primers: CCI 250
Brass: Federal
Brass length: 2.490 (.002" shoulder bump when sizing)
Coal: 3.335 (to just cover one of the grooves on bullet with case mouth and still fit into magazine)

Outside Temp: 15 C.
Altitude: 4200'

Averaged 3150 fps over my Chrony, which is faster than the max load data velocity. Very low ES (<25fps) and consistent load. I'm using Federal brass which has a reputation for being soft, but my primer pockets are still tight after 5 loadings.

I'm getting the accuracy I was looking to achieve; it's under 1moa (I can't shoot better than this) so I'm happy with the accuracy of this load and my rifle.
