Anybody have a 7mm LRM. Are reamers available for them. Any information would be appreciated. Just heard of this chambering and don't know much about it.

Been having a look at this one myself. Brass is available through Grouse river, as well as dies. Reamer is just a 7mm-375 Ruger with a different name. There's a few threads about it on Long Range Hunting. Seems pretty impressive. I was thinking of doing one with a Mod 70 LA with a DBM kit.

Enough to hit a claimed 3075 to 3100 fps with a 180gr vld. No bad at all.

Don't have the case capacity, but I found a PDF article via google. IDK if I can insert it but I'll try.

EDIT: Can't figure out how to insert the article, and I don't want to link to it over on 'Long Range Hunting' but you should be able to find it with some google fu

I think its just a flavour of the week thing, an STW or RUM would get you into the same ballpark. Same as the WSM and SAUM, they do nothing a 7RM won't do but hey...its all marketing.

BTW I'm not criticizing, just saying.

Mine's not the LRM, its based on an un-altered 375Ruger case. The LRM is shortened, and has a longer neck, but the two aren't interchangable. I had to build for dies to bump the necks down in. 020" increments...nice to have unlimited off hour access to machinery! I'm getting 3140 fps with the 180 hybrids with 75 grs of H1000 in a 29" barrel. I hear Gunwerks 180 Hybrid load is 70-71 grs of H1000 giving 3050 to 3150 fps depending on the barrel.
Cheers

Completely forgot what the thread was about when I seen that stone sheep.
Beauty!

lol yeah...42x41.5" 13.5" bases....first guided hunt for my mom and we killed that...that was awesome...whole family affair.

I can get the Berger 180s going 3050 out of my WSM with much less powder. 32" bbl and RL25

With RL-17 and a 32" barrel 3050fps could be easily achieved with a .284 Shehane and use less powder than the WSM. I wonder what the 7LRM is running for chamber pressure and barrel length to achieve those velocities versus the 7WSM? I am seriously considering going to a 7LRM as I used to shoot a 7STW. Things I like about the 7LRM: Feeds from an AICS mag while keeping the pressure ring of the bullet out of the neck shoulder junction. No belt. Powder capacity will shine if Berger releases a heavier bullet. No modifications to feed rails to make the case feed from a LA used for 06 type cases. I cannot confirm this yet but what about actual mag capacity?

Isn't there a 7 Dakota somewhere in there too :)

Then there is a superbly accurate BooBoo family used in 1000yds BR. There is no doubt these babies shoot.

Or you can real creative and just work off the 338 RUM case and come up with something SPECIAL.

Pick any case, move the neck up and down, shoulder this way and that. Claim all sorts of miraculous performance and wait for the money to roll in.

I have happily push the 180gr Hybrid from a dull boring 7RM to 3050 in a 26" barrels so burning more powder is interesting but why bother?

7 Mystic will get the same bullet over 2900fps with approx 30% LESS powder.

Fast is always fun but remember that these super long match bullets have very specific speed nodes and do not like going super fast in tight twist barrels.

Anyways, wildcats are great fun and from these come factory chamberings.

Just confirm supply of your base components and dies before diving too deep. Sometimes, you are making a huge investment for very very marginal gains.

But then, the latest greatest has its appeal too...
