7mm M96 Swedish Mauser

IF it is, that's the very first Swedish Mauser [Carl Gustaf/Mauser? - you haven't noted] that I've ever seen in 7mm in my entire life.
Why do you say it is in 7x57?
You really DO need to get it checked out by a competent gunsmith.

They do exist. About 2000 surplus m94 carbines were bought from Sweden, had the barrels bored to 7mm and rechambered, and were then sold to El Salvador in the 1950's. Yours is either one of those that got "sporterized", or a Spanish Mauser.
I have a Swedish m94 in full wood confirguration in 7X57. Interesting to a collector of South American arms, but honestly for mine, the value is in the stock and fittings. If i ever find an unmolested barrelled action for a m94 I'll use those parts to restore it.

I would say its a Model 95, or Model 1916 Spanish Mauser. Its missing the farmiliar cocking piece, has a shallow groove on the left side of the receiver when using the stripper clip. The gas escape port is similar to my Spanish 1916 Short Rifle receivers.

The Swedish Carbines were rebored in Denmark by Sam Cummins of Interarmco. These were Carbines with the short 17 1/2 in barrel. The rifle in the picture has a longer rifle barrel on it.
We need a good close up picture of the left side of the receiver. That is the area where the serial number and Inspectors initials are on a M/96 Swedish.
Also, a removal of the scope base on the receiver ring should instantly give the Maker, (if it has not been ground off.)
However, the "give away" to this one is the shape and construction of the rear open sight. M/95 Mauser, not m/96 Swedish.

Congratulations on the observation; you win. I was wondering just how long or how many posts it would be before someone twigged to that. What we have is the PROBABILITY of a mismatched replacement bolt here also.
