7mm Magnum powder choices

9.5 twist.
I have some 150 Nosler BT that I could try.
Maybe I should jump up to 162 g projectiles?

Has anyone here tried Ramshot Magnum or Ramshot Big Game or Ramshot Hunter or Hybrid100V? It looks like ramshot Hunter could work for both my 7mm and my 243 and it's a lot cheaper than other powders.

I've used all of the Ramshot rifle powders except the newer LRT. They work well, Hunter should be suitable for 243/7RM use

Hodgdon H100V is between 4350 and 4831 for burn rate. Very similar to RS Hunter

Thanks. According to a burn rate chart I found online, RS Hunter is right after 4831. I might have to hunt down the data for 7 RM. My manual only lists it for lighter pills.

Ive used RBG in both a 7 Wby and a 7 STW. Good powder, but didnt give me top velocities in the stw. - dan

I used RL-22 for many years in 7 RM with 150/160 bullets, 24" barreled rifles for the most part... When RL-26 became available I switched to it... I did not pick up much in velocity but I did improve the consistency. If you can find RL-26 it is a good way to go.

I do have enough powder for now. Maybe I'll just wait until my local gun shop has some reloader or 7828

22 is stil my go to in the 7 RM with 160 gr bullets. Great velocities. Id love to try some 26, but havent been able to find any.- dan

It shot horrible in my m70 but that may have been the bullet ( 150 ELD-X ) I’m gonna try some 160 accubonds, see if that might work with the RL26

Does the 7mm Rem Mag really need a 26 inch barrel for proper velocity? Mine has a 24.4 inch.

My first 7-mag was also my fastest, 26" A-bolt. Since then, most have been 24" and there is probably a good 60 or so FPS difference. My current Tikka is 24.3" and a bit slower yet but I haven't really turned up the gas - just got 3 pounds of Ramshot Magnum to try out but I still have a couple hundred cartridges to fire off for brass.
