7mm Mauser 175gr Loads - 10 Different Powders

It's good to see everyone having so much success with the 175 Roundnose in the 7x57. My own personal rifle is a Brazillian M98 carbine (FN made) with an 18-inch barrel. The load I've settled on for the last decade or so is 49 grains of Higginson's formerly available WC852 (SL), which is almost a dead ringer for the now defunct H450 (which itself was in the H4831 ball park). I use a magnum primer.

Even with my stubby barrel, this load is pushing a Hornady 175 out at just above 2,400 and giving me accuracy under 2 m.o.a. (using iron sights).

I agree that slower powders work best with 175-grain bullets in this cartridge.

I'm really enjoying this thread and am a huge fan of the 7x57 as a hunting round. Mere factory rounds in have yielded many deer for me and now I intend to take up reloading. Much research has been done on heavier, 175 grain bullets - is this deemed to be an optimal projectile weight for deer in close to mid range distances? Are 140 grain partition bullets as accurate?

Thanks.
