I am looking for some help with a starting point for a 7mm Mauser and 195gr Barnes bullet. The gun is a 98 action so I'm not to concerned with keeping pressure down to the lack luster spanish Mauser pressures. I would like to use imr 7828 or xbr 8208 I have lying around.
Thanks

Why so heavy a bullet? E-mail Barnes ,I'm sure they will share some data as they sell the bullet................odd bullet weight IMO.....Harold

I use H4831 with mine in the 7X57. That's a great bullet in rifles with the twist required. I'm down to my last couple of dozen. I was sad to see it go, along with the Hornady 275 gr 35 Cal - they just weren't big sellers.

I moved to grizzly bear territory, I want a heavy bullet.

I realize and understand your concern regarding the heavy bullet rightfully so.
When I had a 7X57 the limit for heavy weight in one was a 160 gr. load and I doubt if the Bear would notice the difference.
Do some experimenting with a good quality 160 gr bullet and whatever heavier slug you want to use.
The 160 might provide better penetration and open up better than the bigger bullet.... which is what you want..

I agree Andy. I really wish they would bring back all the original Barnes "heavies". - dan
