7mm PRC is SAAMI approved.

Neat. Rumors were floating around that this would be based on the full-size .300 PRC case which would have been a throat shredder for sure.

I like the idea of a 7mm Rem Mag ballistic package in a "short-ish" action with a fast twist as standard (175gr Partition is my favorite 7mm hunting bullet, right between 2950-3000 fps).

However, I haven't seen much in the way of 6.5 PRC ammo or brass available. Same story as the .338 Weatherby RPM, they are releasing a new cartridge when they can't meet the demand for the parent cartridge as it stands. Despite it being what a lot of folks are looking for (lots of 7SAUM builds and the like) it might not get any traction if the ammo and components are vaporware.

3.090 to 3.340 inch overall cartridge length. So 30-06 length. I hope this is popular, seems ballistics will be similar to 7mm REM MAG. No belt and faster twist (1:8) than the 7mm REM MAG, should be easy to adapt a lot of current actions to shoot this new 7mm PRC.

Now That is a GREAT question - Custom GUY's for Sure - Prob Browning - there usally good for the ODD ?? balls - If TIKKA doe's a T3X i will be in line for getting one ! RJ

Bit of love lost between Browning and Hornady (Hornady refuses to support the 6.8 Western), so I wouldn't expect it. As for Tikka, even if they don't I'd expect pre-fits to be available. Probably even before factory ammo reaches us.

28 PRC would be a better suited name for american sales, or maybe something like 28 PRC-AI-ELRRC so it gains even more attention

Christianson arms has the reamer already, as does Gunworx, I don't imagine it will be long and Antler will be riding this wave as well, but I don't understand why they are so hot to make rifles for which ammunition is not yet available, unless the newly discontinued 6.5 PRC machinery is going to be adapted to make 7mm PRC brass and ammo

I'm not too excited about this one, I am a fan of 7mm for long range shooting, but I could give 2 ####s abouts belt/non-belt, makes zero difference to me.
The 175's I can shoot in my 7mm Rem with 1/9 twist provide a high enough BC for me for the 1000m stuff if do, and long action vs long action. Brass is easy to come by 7mm Rem, I got into the 6.5prc train, and it's decent, but I'd still like more powder room for it, and brass is sketchy to find, I'd rather not have to run max psi every boom to get the stated velocity either.
Hornady does a good job of providing factory ammo for their stuff, but I don't shoot factory ammo ever, this is their marketing scheme, they like to suck in the non-reloaders to these new chamberings, but it doesn't do much for the loaders.
As a loader, the best cartridge they put out is the 6mm Creed, everything else is pretty much redundant.

Faster than both. The design philosophy is based on a 180gr ELD-M/ELD-X at 2950fps from a 24" barrel. That's what I get from my hottest 7-mag loads with a 3.340" COAL.

This 7 mm PRC is WRONG ! it should be the same as the 6.5 PRC but necked up to .284 then it can be used with a short action and a Wyatt extended mag box - The 2.280 Needs a LONG action to allow the big bullets the COAL they need !

Flame away with your thoughts !
