Hello, I have a Rem 7MM magnum and Retumbo powder. It says to use CCI 250 primers in my Speer manual and Winchester WLRM in my Hornady book. I have Federal 210 LRP only, at this time. I'm pretty sure I can use these but not sure what I'm giving up. I've read that I'll lose some velocity but may gain in accuracy. If that's the case , then I'm ok with that. What say you?

I've been reading my 2 manuals and looking at Barnes and Nosler reloading data. I've cross referenced all the powder listed from these 4 different data sources and came up with IMR 7828 and 4831. These two are listed on all 4 data options. I'll try one of those and maybe scrap the LRP idea.

Brian Slow burning powders in cold weather in large capacity cases need a hot primer to ensure consistant ignition. I would have to agree with Stubblejumper. You need a hotter primer.

I use what I can find for magnum primers, whether it be fed215/m, cci 250s or rem 9 1/2. Try and stick with magnum primers for magnum cartridges, they will also work in place of large rifle primers in smaller cartridges, like the 308.

That is a stocky powder column to consistently ignite with LR primers... I would find some 215's or 250's... and try to get your hands on some RL-26... try Rusty Wood Trading Company.
