Even though i have a rifle in this chambering for a couple years I've never got around to reload for it.
So a while back i decided that it was about time to load some and see how i would fare with this caliber. Well i was disappointed with the end results.
I loaded 50 shells with IMR 7828 from 61gr to 65.5gr .5gr increments , and 50 shells with H4831 from 58gr to 62.5gr .5gr increments and to my surprise none of these powders worked for me, my best group was 2.5".
I used Winchester brass and Winchester LR Magnum primers, bullet was 160gr Accubonds seated at 20 thousands off rifle is a CZ 550 Medium ,anywhere between 1" to 1.5" grouping i would have been happy.
Now somebody suggested that i should try CCI 200 , and stick to the 2 powders that i have already tried and go for another 50 with each of the powders.
Apparently he had similar problem and by changing a magnum primer for a non magnum his groups did tighten considerably, Have any of you fellas have any input in this issue?
Thank

Victor.

What rifle are you shooting? I load for a 7mm and found IMR7828 to be a pretty good performer. The preferred load for the gun I load for is Reloader 22, but that can be a tough one to find. For what its worth, I was using Remington brass, CCI magnum primers, and 150 grain Barnes TSX. It printed 1" or less at 100 consistently and its a cheapo savage trophy hunter

edit*saw its a cz rifle....

IMR4350 was always my go to powder for the 7mm, near max charge behind almost any 160gr pill with a CCI200 primer would put 5 shots in a 35 caliber hole any day I could do my part..

My 7mm seems to like H1000 and 150g Noslers, CCI magnum primers. Though my last shoot was -12c and my groups opened a bit, not sure if that is powder per say, but I am going to look into it.

My accubond experience in 7mm rem mag always seemed to like bullets .030"-.040" off rifling, had a couple that liked Nosler book max too and they shot tight.I have always used h1000 or retumbo in 160-175gr with fed 215 primers. How long are you taken to shoot the 50 loaded shells?

I've only had one bullet that performed decently with imr 7828 and that was hornady 139grn sst's in an old Parker hale, my newish 700 sendero likes all hornady 162grn bullets .050 off lands with retumbo pushing close to 3100 fps always with federal match magnums.

I do have that powder but i thought it was a bit too fast for the 7 Mag, even though i have decent results with it in my 7x57.

.030-.040 off the lands wont be a problem, H1000 or Retumbo might be a problem , i don't have them and want to keep my reloading within the 12 to 15 different powders that i have in stock if possible and then if nothing works i might have to try the Retumbos and H1000s .
I,m shooting at 100 yds.

I shoot 160 Accubonds and 168 Bergers out of my 7 and 280 Ackley. Both guns love Retumbo and shoot ragged holes. My Accubonds are 50 thou off the lands not that I think seating depth matters with proper load development. I would definitely try to get some Retumbo for the 160's.

My 1st 7mm Remington Magnum was a Remington model 700 BDL Deluxe.
With it I shot over 35 Moose, 25 bears, 2 wolves.
All I ever used was the Sierra 160 grain Boattail. bullet.
I loaded it as hot as was safely possible. [never over the limit].
I never had 1 animal get away or walk more than 25 feet.
I sold it and I have regretted it.
I just recently bought a Savage, IN 7MM MAG., 111FNCS with Accustock and Accutrigger, AND DETACHABLE MAGAZINE..
Bears BEWARE. [NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT MOOSE, NO TAGS.]
MY PREFERED BULLET WILL STILL BE THE SIERRA 160 GRAIN BOATTAIL, IT WORKS FOR ME].

I did some load development on my brothers 7mmRM x-bolt with 160 accubonds.I worked a load up a little past max and I wasn't happy with the H4831sc (It is what I used in my x-bolt and 168 LRAB and it worked great).I worked up a load with H4350 and the 160 AB in it next and found a sweet spot around the max load.COL was 3.290
