7mm Saum

Only Gun Nutz would try to get cartridges to do physics-defying things... and at what cost? There are always other cartridges that will produce the numbers you are trying to achieve from the lesser cartridge... and if you have reached the apex, just hold your breath, by the time you exhale another "latest greatest" will be along.

True. We always try and "improve" things. I blame our monkey ancestors. - dan

One or two things have changed in bullets and powder in the last 20 years.

Is the 7 saum of 2001 really the same as it is in 2021?

Now a days you can good brass for the 7 SAUM so it makes for a viable option for hunting cartridge or target shooting, to me it’s a more sensible round than the 28 Nosler, of course all depends on what your looking for.

Only thing it’s really lacking is any amount of available factory ammo.

Have I mentioned the 7mm-08 Remington Magnum yet?

New powders and bullets are applicable to all cartridges. Cartridges of a given bore capacity are best served by powders of a certain burning rate. That doesn't change. The larger cartridges. like the 7mag, have benefited the most from new powder offerings.
