I didn't want to hijack the other thread ;)

Decided to take my Ruger #1 out to test some reloads, and seems like I found a shooter!
Load is 160gr Accubond, 80grs RL25, R-P brass. This group measures .86" at 100yds. Not bad for my first load trials.

I had two Remington rifles in 7mm STW back in '93 when they first came out. I did like the caliber , but not the meat damage that it created on game.I didn't shoulder shoot moose but still ended up with a lot of splatter all through the animal. It may be better now with Accubond's and Barnes, but the typical bullets of the day were very messy when teamed up with the hyper velocity of the STW.It didn't kill any better than the standard 7 mag so I sold them and never regretted it.

Agreed. The accuracy your load shows is good, but not any better than a decent 7mm Remington Magnum or 7-08, for that matter. What separates the STW and the other super-magnums from the pack is extreme velocity. Hopefully, you're getting it.
