7mm WSM who chambers it?

Ok, to make it easier for you to understand...........
There is the option if someone wants to use his 7WSM for many applications(target , varmint , small game, large game).
If one chooses to reload and use the rifle for multiple jobs then something chambered in a 7mm will have a wider range and easier time finding components. I really don't care what you use or how many bullets you require. The OP was askin bout the 7WSM, I explained why it possibly is a better choice.

Time to go to work now.

If you take the 7mm WSM loaded in a BLR and load it with 175 gr bullets, it would probably perform fine as a bush gun. Certainly not the classic bush gun chamberings, but it would work just fine, especially since he got a great deal on it.

As for the OP: You need an x-bolt. My X-bolt in 7mm WSM is VERY accurate, is pleasant to shoot [I'm not very recoil sensitive, but this is really quite pleasant] and a dream to carry. I LOVE the Duratouch stock. It's a great rifle and your cartridge selection is impeccable!
I just have a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 BDC scope on mine, and it REGULARLY shoots 0.6" off the bench @ 100 yards. My Tikka doesn't do that. It's average is 0.9". Not a big difference, I know, but what I'm saying is that the X-bolt is a every bit as great as a Tikka. Better in some ways.

I have a BLR in 7WSM you want it???:p

Actually it is a versatile caliber and more bullets available over the 270 if you reload.

Well, Kelly, since you brought up this old and mistaken argument about lack of selection and easy availability in 270 cal bullets, a person can cover all those bases with at least nine bullet weights that are readily available for the 270: 90, 100, 110, 115, 130, 135, 140, 150, and 160g, in everything from hollow point varmint bullets, through match bullets, and on to Nosler Partitions.

When you consider that these various weights are available from at least four different manufacturers, the number becomes more than twenty available bullets. That still leaves all the monolithic copper bullets. Does anyone really need "a wider range and easier time finding components" than that? :)

Since 1962, I have loaded for and used 90 gr, 100, 130, 150, and 160 gr, on everything from groundhogs to grizzlies, and never had a moments concern.

Best,
Ted

Do you own both? Have much experience with both?

I do, and that's my opinion. If someone gave me the choice between a free x-bolt composite stalker and a free Tikka T3 Lite, I'd take the X-bolt hands down.

Don't get me wrong though, I like the Tikka, and may even own another one day, but it really has nothing over the X-bolt.

The OP says he wished the 7WSM was offered in a Tikka. Well, he shouldn't hesitate to get an X-bolt.

The Guns are very similar: Both have polymer magazines, both have user-adjustable triggers, both are very light, Both have short bolt lifts [60 degrees for the X-bolt and 70 foe the Tikka] and both are very accurate. Like I said, I get better groups on average with my X-bolt than my Tikka, and the X-bolt is a magnum.
The differences: The sythetic stock on the X-bolt is WAY nicer than the T3. [Dura-touch is very nice]
The X-bolt offers a REAL short action, not just a shorter bolt stop.
The X-bolt has an aluminum bolt shroud, not just the polymer.

I stand by my statement:
The X-bolt is just a good as a Tikka, and in some ways even better! :HR:

My day was lovely!! :)

I just see to many threads drift away from the point so I sometimes get a little back to the point, it sounds like I am getting angry but it is only the keyboard speaking.

I'm sorry that my addition to this thread seems to have ruffled you a bit. It was not my intention to do so.

Hoping your day at work goes better. :p

I have to agree with the above quote. If you like the T3, you'll probably love the X bolt. One of my hunting buddies has one in 7-08, and it's just a little nicer than the T3 all across the board. I like both, but the Xbolt is a true short action, so if you like the way a SA handles, its what you want. And in 7WSM!!

oh the drama!

I see the browning a and x bolts are a tad more expensive than the tikka's. Maybe it is just a browning thing as most of their stuff is pricier than I think it should be.

Will have to find someone who will let me try their x-bolt. Is the bolt X shaped or something?
