I acquired a Mauser 98 in 7x57 along with several boxes of reloading components. Among them was 500 Sako 7mm 78 grain bullets. I am guessing that they were originally intended for the 7mm Nambu. They are a jacketed RN soft point bullet.

I would like to load some up for the 7x57 for plinking but do not have a clue where to start with powders or powder charges.

I would appreciate some input from you reloading gurus

thanks

Richard

depending on how fast you want to push them, you could start with 100 gr. load data.

the lighter bullet will create less pressure than the 100 gr. loads, so powder charges for 100 gr. data can be used with the lighter 78 gr. bullet

good luck

find someone who wants the 78grainers and get some heavier bullets that will act right with the rifleing twist rate and throat length of your mauser. 150-175 grain bullets will probabley drive tacks in it. or just shoot em up:)
all mauser shooting is good.
Cheers
