Well someone dropped me some old 7x57 ammo not having a 7x57 kinda was not needing it but hey figured I have a butchered 8x57 rifle why not fire form them in it

Yeap fired them and did measurements after they are now able to take 8x57 Reloads no problem, of course firing the 7x57 accuracy was pretty non existant

Just thought to say it incase u have some of it and need 8x57 brass

Does leave a tad of powder in barrel/magazine per shot when fire forming it

You realize, of course, that you had extremely excessive headspace when doing this? The shoulder on the 8x57 is MUCH further from the base on the 8x57 than it is on the 7x57. Just stand a 7x57 case beside an 8x57 case, and you will see the difference.

The fired brass is almost certainly badly stretched in the web area.

yea we noticed the difference after fire forming and properlly full sizing within spec we will remote fire the batch in the old beater to make sure even though currently they look and measure within spec now

Paper Clip Method now that I never heard of... Found it on Google

Well we been trying to aquire 100-500 1Fired Dirty doesnt matter really

I have too many rifles. Safety for me in not fire forming brass. Much prefer to use brass with the correct head stamp...it just gets too confusing. There are a few combinations that one could end up actually igniting a pipe bomb needing a trip to the emergency room or permanent rental of a pirate costume.

I've resized 30-06 brass for my .270 many times. It comes out a hair short, but that's okay. Never loaded 8x57 though.

I thought I would update this thread after firing these rnds a few times now they are working great so far and no loss of accuracy or non burned powder or pressure issues in case or gun
