Was at P&D today and they took a Ruger number 1 in 7x57 on a trade, gun is mint and if I didn't already have a 7x57 this one would have been mine. Will make an excellent addition to some ones collection.FS
 
One can never have too many 7x57's...3 goin on 4 for me! Im seriously looking at a ruger no.1 with the alex henry forend, quarter rib and banded front sight. Such a great little rifle...and my 45-70 needs a little brother so I might have to pick one up.
 
I have the #1 International in 7x57. I cut the LOP down to 13" because the balance was not great and the eye relief to the scope was to far. The full length stock got gouged up so I cut it down to a regular forend. It is a compact unit, great for deer.
 
A lot of people have the mistaken idea that Jack O'Connor thought the sun rose and set on the .270 win. He liked a number of other cartridges. Not the least of which was the 7X57. I have been rereading "THE HUNTING RIFLE" by O'Connor and he devotes one whole chapter to"BIG PUNCH IN A LITTLE CASE" the 7X57.

I bought an Interarms Mark X with a full Manlichner stock in 7X57 shortly before I got married. I shot a few black bears with it and then My wife took it over and shot a moose with it and a couple bighorn ewes.

Now I have a daughter and son that have shot some game with a Rem 788 in .243. They may be using the 7X57 for moose, bear and deer in the future.

I have a friend that has a 7mm08 and he raves about it and told me I should get one for the kids to use. I told him I already have a 7mm with a proven history.

I often dig out my 60's Outdoor Life magazines and read his articles. :D

His wife used a 7x57mm. He seemed to particularily like the 7x57mm, .270 Win,. and .338 winchester.
 
I think Jon Sundra is the guy who praises all 7mm calibers including 7x57 Mauser. IMO it is an excellent caliber, one I should add to my collection.
 
The price tag on the gun is $750.00 and according to the owner he fired 5 rounds down the pipe, he originally bought it for his 12 year old son and the kid didn't like it so he traded it off. FS
