7x57 load for Husqvarna?

My last trip to the range with my 7x57 HVA lightweight was disappointing.

Last year I had gotten good groups with 48.5 grains of H4350 behind a 140 grain Nosler Partition bullet with new preprimed bass. I don't know what the primers were.

I ran out of Nosler Partitions so switched to some 139 grain Hornady Interlocks with the same powder load and CCI 200 primers and the groups are now all over the map. I mean a five inch group compared to a one inch group with the NP bullets.

The previous owner of this rifle had had success with that charge behind Hornady 139 grain SSI bullets so I thought I should stick close to that recipe.

I see by the book this load looks a little hot too, but elsewhere I have read of others using up to 50 grains of H4350 in other commercial Mauser actions.

Maybe I should reduce the load a grain or two and try again?

Does anyone else have one of these rifles? What shoots for you?
 
I use Win 760 in my 7x57 BRNO 21H and get clover leafs with 140gr. I use Re22 for the 160gr with the same results.Your gun may be different.........Harold
 
The book i have lists that as a medium load, should work well, the book also says case capacity for a 7x57 can vary quite a bit by brand of case, maybe try checking cases and matching the closest ones.
 
There is a possibility that your Husqvarna prefers that 140 Partition.
However, you might want to try W760, RL19, or Vihtavuori N150/550 instead of
H4350.
Your load does not look excessive to me.
I regularly shoot 51.0 grains of IMR 4350 behind the 139/140 grain bullets in my 7x57.
As one other poster here mentioned - Watch your brass!! Remington brass tends to be quite a bit heavier in this chambering than does Winchester.
This means it will not accept as heavy a charge safely.
I use only Winchester brass or PPU brass, since capacity is very close.

One thing you might check is the bullet's relationship to the lands. The Husqvarna lightweight that I once owned had an exceptionally long throat--it only ever shot really well with the 160-175 grain bullets seated way ouot of the case.

I use win brass ,fed mag primers and 49gr Win 760 with 140gr Hornadys.......50gr RE#22 and a 160gr ........use at own risk, best to start lower + work up.......Harold
