7x57?

A buddy's wife is looking to buy hubby a new unused 7x57 bolt action for Christmas. Budget is $1500 to $2000.00 -- what's out there???

The 7mm08 is fine just not as cool as the 7x57.

7x57 is a nice cartridge. As posted above, it is a bit late, but they are out there. There are likely some unfired modern 7x57 bolt action rifles sitting in closets around the country. Didn't Remington make one in the Classic series? A nice wood stocked 700 would be a great rifle! Maybe Zastava makes one?

a new use for all your old 308 brass, lube it up and run it into a 7-08 full length sizing die and your good to go

7x57 at Tradex

I picked up a Zastava from Tradex a short while ago also. After seeing how well a similar item in .366 Wagner shot, I thought, what the h**l. Following that, a short while later, lady luck smiled upon me and Hoytcanon sold me my 2nd 7x57, this one, top in the photo, a 'Lipsey' Ruger Hawkeye RSI, 7x57, stainless & wood. The Zastava below.

You won't find a nicer rifle than this one for the price. The RSI is a real sweetheart and its in an awesome chambering!!

I have nothing against 7.08. But if I was hoping for a 7 x 57 for Christmas and got a 7.08., I would be very disappointed. And then the hurt feelings would begin because the first thing I would do would be to sell it.

7/08 fit perfectly in a short action where a long action is too long for a 7x57 and a short action is too short.
