7x57

So 444, besides the massive cool factor, what piques your interest in this round above and beyond its almost-twin, the 7mm-08?
I just ask because EVERYBODY makes the 7-08. And I'm not being facetious; I love the .280 Remington, but have zero interest in its .270 Win and 7mm Mag stablemates.

Its my second favorite cartrige, right behind 375 H&H. Because I love my rifle chambered in 7x57, and any chance to post pics should be taken, heres mine:

Get one, you'll love it! And if you can't find one, have one made.

Just a nice classic round, and cool factor too ;)
Another option is the equally cool 6.5x55.

I had it out right before the snow fall, Just before hunting season started. Using Remington Core Lokt factory greenbox ammo I put 5 under an inch, 4 of them touching, one flyer, but still in the inch, I couldn't belive when me and my wife walked downrange (no spotting scope) and I was hoping just to have landed all 5 on paper, let alone all in an inch. I was very happy that day. I can't wait to start handloading for it.

If the story is true, and I'm told Teds word is golden, than its quite a unique rifle.

Quick check of Ruger site shows 7X57 only in the No.1 and not 77. Really like my little No.1 International 7X57. Remington had their 1981 Classic chambered in 7X57 and Winchester's chambered it in recent years. CZ chambers the 7X64. I see a Brno 21 7X64 sold on the EE recently. I have a Brno in 7X57 also and they are not to hard to find if you have "deep pockets". Try search on "Hunting firearms" EE for 7X57. Someone had a custom job on an H&R Mauser action recently.

rare rare rare

Gobles lists CZ550 Lux in 7x57 but no guarantee its in stock. Voere still chambers this round, and Wolverine and Gobles might be able to get one for you. Ruger chambers it only in the International full stock this year, try to find one. If you get any of these, post pics!!!

The 7x57 is my absolute favourite cartridge. Theres nothing walking earth that a well placed 175 grain RN won't take care of. It also has unlimited style and panache.

I have a custom 7x57 on a 96 muaser, with a timney trigger and a 26 inch Shilen barrel. Its another of those rifles that shoots what ever you want to feed it. For glass it has a Burris Signature 2-8x33 on top. I have sighted in bang on at 200 meters. The load that I finally settled on is a 140gr Barnes TSX bullet.FS

7x57mm

Got a 7x57mm in a Ruger Model 77 tangsafety I got off the EE here in one of the earliest incarnations of CGN. Was "as new" when I received it. It wears a B&L Elite 3000 3-9x40mm. Will print sub 1" with factory ammo if I do my part. Looking forward to working up some loads for it in the future. The 7x57mm is both a classic and fantastic ctg!

My 7x57 was built by Rembo, on a Rem 700 action, with a Beaven King stainless steel barrel and a remington synthetic stock. It is built along the Rem 700 Mountain Rifle countours, and is my favorite hunting rifle. It will shoot slightly less than 1" with handloaded 150gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. I've used it for the last three years and took 2 mule deer and 1 white tail buck, with one shot each. It's such a lightweight and easy handling rifle, I can't ever imagine selling it.

I did write Ruger an E-mail on their "tell the CEO" link, and asked if they would consider brining back the chambering in the Model 77. They replied that they had no plans on bringing it back, but would pass on the suggestion to the sales and marketing dept. Maybe if enough guys stumped for one, they might bring it back.
