I have a Brno combi coming and a decent amount of 150 gr 7 mm projectiles on hand . Not much online for the lighter loads although I have read it’s pretty much a 7mm/08 ? I would rather use a recipe from a book if anyone has one . My manuals only have the 7x57
Thx

You can use any published data for 7x57 with North American SAAMI maximum specified pressure and have a safe load in your 7x57R. If using data from European CIP sources, they will begin with a higher pressure standard for 7x57, and will list data with the appropriate 5% reduction for the rimmed version. I only load 175 gr. bullets in my two 7x57R rifles, so my personal loads are no help to you. Medium slow powders like H4350 are the place to start.

As already stated, and for most of what I've read, loading data always said that the "R" version would require a reduction in powder. Mostly because the break action single shot rifles were a bit weaker than their bolt action counterparts. The Brno doesn't strike me as being particularity weak.

This is from an old Hornady manual, the newer ones still say the same thing.

I load for the 7x57, and as my son shoots a Ruger #1I, it gets a full load.

I'd seriously consider the Hornady ELD-X in 162 gr. BC is 0.630 which means it doesn't have a parachute on it's butt.

I'm a fan of cast bullets, and the 7x57R should be a cast bullet king.

You didn't state the make of the bullets you have, that is whose data I'd look at first.

4350, perhaps 4895, or maybe Varget would be where I'd start, if I didn't load cast.

Hornsby ELDX 150 gr. , my concern was mostly with the break action of the CZ . No longer , the action Is VERY robust .

OP, I used have the same type/make of rifle/shotgun O/U combo about 30 years ago. I really liked that combination rifle, but someone else made me a ridiculous offer for the lovely leather cased set. which included a 12ga over 7x57R and a 16ga over 6.5x57R and a set of 12gaX12ga barrels, all fitted to the same receiver.

The BRNO Combo rifle I had wasn't considered to me as strong as a modern bolt rifle. I used a mid range load that was safe for the early M93 Mauser rifles.

You can use ordinary 7x57 dies to load the 7x57R as all of the dimensions, other than the rim are identical.

The best load for my rifle was 43.0 grn of W760 (H414) over CCI 250 magnum primers under 154 grain Hornady Spire Point bullets. This gave a velocity from the 23 inch bbls slightly over 2300fps at an approximate 40,000 CUP. You don't mention your twist rate. Many of the bbs on those BRNO Combo rifles were special orders. The combination set I had was 1-7.5 twist.

I tried lighter bullets in the loads and found the 139gr btsp shot well but anything lighter and the groups opened up.
