I have a hunting friend who has an older origional S&H rifle. Unfortunatly there seems to be a shortage of ammo. He's not really interested in reloading, I've offered.

So the question is what to do?

Is there an easy rechambering option? 270 Wby maybe?

Also who around Edmonton would be able to do the work.

Any idea's would be helpful. Although he said I've got first dibs if he sells:)

Don't rechamber, reload. Make from 300 H&H, 300 Win. 7mm R mag and etc. etc. etc.:) Easy to do, cheaper and faster to buy the dies and just go for it, plus it keeps the rifle original.
 
Yeah, he's a nice old guy, but he might be moving around auite a bit if he retires. So he doesn't want to tie himself to reloading or to depending on someone to reload for him. I asked him and he used to reload years ago, but got out of it. He only uses three rifles the S&H, a Browning 30-06, and a .22. He dosen't trust the 30-06 because it failed on him a few years ago with a dud round or something. He likes the S&H because "It kills damn near anything I point it at" and I have seem him drop a mid sized whitetail buck with it at a measured 330 yards with his old 4x weaver.

So he likes the setup and wants to keep it, only in something more easily avaliable for ammo.
 
Please note that the cartridge is named partially after Phil Sharpe, not Sharpes, and is not connected in any way with the Sharps Rifle Co. of yesteryear, or any of the modern replicas of the Sharps type. Phil Sharpe an experimenter and writer from an earlier time got the idea from a French Military experimental cartridge. Note, this was before the advent of the 7mm Rem. mag.

Yeah I'd heard something about it. It was supposed to be one of the purpose built perfect hunting rounds, like an earlier version of the STW. I knew it was previous to the 7 rem mag and I do like the performance, and it's a darn cool gun. If I was a #### I'd tell him he can't take it to the startes with him:evil: or something so he'd sell it to me.

Oh well to bad he's a nice guy.:(
