Does anyone know anything about 7mm X 64 ammo?
I picked up some 7mm Mauser ammo but there is some 7X64 rounds mixed in with them.
Can't find much info on that round.

I have three rifles chambered for 7x64. I like the cartridge a lot. It was marketed successfully in Europe since about 1917. It's a standard cartridge with a strong following in Europe and Africa. It fires the same bullets as your "7mm Mauser" or 7x57 but 100-200 fps faster. In 1957, forty years after the 7x64 had achieved success in Europe, Remington had the bright idea to market an almost identical cartridge with a more familiar "inch" caliber name for the North American market. Remington marketers fumbled the ball. Anything you've read about the .280 Remington could be applied to the 7x64, except the 7x64 was never loaded down to lower pressures and velocity for use in semi-autos and pumps like the poorly marketed Remington version. The 7x64 is what the .280 Remington aspired to be, but never quite achieved. I could happily use one of my 7x64's for all my Canadian big game hunting. It's that good.
