I hope baalan doesn't mind me posting some of his pics. You should all be able to get a better idea of what the gun looks like. Hopefully Dean can jump in and answer all questions.:)

We need to remember the 660mm rule. With anything shorter than maybe a Hogue reduced lop, and these things will be restricted. I won't make a complete SG less than an inch shorter than 26"(660mm). I have FRT's for both of these lengths already. Apparently they were created some time ago so regies wont be a problem. Also, the oal of these things WILL raise a few eyebrows, even if you have the registration for it. I was talking to a cop that came into the shop a few days ago that had no idea at all that a newly manufactured barrel can be installed legally on any non restricted firarm, meeting the 660mm oal, is still non-restricted. Most LE don't know the laws regarding this. I don't think he believed me even after I explained it to him. The point is, don't get too excited about making these things the length of your arm.

I have shown my 12.5s to several LEOs from different agencies and their first question is always "Are those legal?" to which I reply "You tell me" and run them through the whole reasoning process so they can determine themselves that they are perfectly ok. After that their next question is "Where can I get one?" :D Also, most of the public I show the barrels to think they are 'prohibited' and are happy to learn that they can get one of the barrels for their current 870.
This project of baalan's is really educational and it makes people challenge their preconceptions about what an 'illegal gun' is, the more people that see these shorter barrels/guns the more barriers that will be broken down. Good going you guys at Dlask!

Cheers

Looks cool, but I don't think it's for me. I don't know how practical it is and if it only holds 2 shots that kinda makes it lose points for me too.

But, to each his own.

The 8" model I would much prefer to any other length for bear country use if sleeping in a tent in a bag. It would be much handier than any conventional shotgun for that use and second only to a powerful revolver for such use.

U.S. fish and wildlife, and forestry woorkers are issued just such a handgun for sleeping with, and a shotgun for outside the tent use, according to a show I was on the outdoor chanell.
