Just curious if anyone has found a decent way to put a light on an 8.5" Grizzly.

Is the forend long enough to drill on a short rail, mount a light, and still fit your hand on it?

I had replaced my fore-end before mounting a small light but I believe there's still room on the old pump for a small piece of rail. If you want a lengthier flashlight just mount it up by the barrel

I have one of the forends with the built in light from CanAm, I will swap this from the 18.5 mag to the 8.5 mag when it shows up. Let you know how it works.

This won't work unless you heavily modify the forend. The forend on the 8.5 is a lot smaller then the rest of the Dominion Arms Grizzlies and will not work.

PL Premium and rivets do a wonderful job in holding the rails in place. So says Jeff Owner of NEA and he was right on the money about this trick with the 870 handguards.

Mesa Tactical makes a mount for the 870 that I think would work well for the short 8.5. Just google Mesa Tactical Side Mount Picatinny Rail for Remington 870

This might be the only solution. I just found a photo of a guy holding and firing the 8.5" Grizzly. With a hand on the shortened forend, there's no space for rails or a light unless it's run out past the muzzle.

The Mesa side mount rail is located on the right side of the receiver above the trigger guard. While not an optimal location to mount a light, it's one of the few options that will work.

Otherwise the short railed forend from Dlask might be another choice if run with a vertical foregrip.

A suggestion is to mount a vertical fore grip then a short picitinny rail for a surefire on the right side of the fore stock and a contact switch on the verticle grip just like on my 11'" AR. The verticle grip is good for controling the 3" magnum recoil and the front end will not leave yer grip.

I would think there would be enough room for a short picatinny rail on the upper left side of the pump no? I've been wanting to put one there but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
