8 ball's C8 build progress thread

Barrel showed up today, as well as the front sight post and the "proper" buffer tube nut. (nut not pictured) Gas tube is also here and the Stag lower parts kit. Must say I am very impressed with the Stag LPK. Took a couple of quick shots of it mocked up with the barrel. Can't wait to get it to the shootable stage!

Now the barrel goes out to be tuned down and reparked.

No, I saved it for another build. I ended up going with a Daniel Defence barrel from Wolverine Supplies. Proper length, proper twist and chrome lined. Just need to get it profiled and re parkerized and the front sight installed.

Cool!..I decided to take a run at a C7 build...Just the plain jane as I carried.Apparently 20" bbls are out of style though..took some time to find one,..a warm thank you to Rob at Wolverine however!

OK, I feel like I'm losing my mind. Someone, somewhere, recommended a smith to me for drilling my barrel for the taper pins and for the life of me I can't find it! Maybe in a PM that I deleted? Did anyone send me a PM recommending a smith for this?

EDIT; also what barrel diameter did you guys go with forward of the gas block? In the drawing I have it looks like .570". Does that sound right?

CF marked? No, the CF destroys their rifles when they're done with them.

I've seen pics of Diemaco semi only rifles in private hands, likely sourced from Europe.

Someone did make a batch of convincing looking repro lowers a few years back. It may have even been Dlask, but his current offerings are ghey looking.
These aren't Dlask markings.

Well, the first time I posted a photo of these, a few guys, ie. Edmonton NWEST, Ont PWEN (or whatever they are called), CF MPs, Diemaco, were "excited". Instead of just calling me, as they all know who we are on here, they "carried on". A quick phone call would have saved a lot of needless effort.

I think they turned out OK, if I do say so myself.

So who did you get to do the engraving for you? I have a couple of 80% Dlask lowers that could be used for such a purpose if I could find a reliable place to get the engraving done.

Edited to add: Maybe a better question is, "Is the C8 marked one for sale?":p

I can't get any engraved from my point.

Nope, not for sale at this time.

No one can recommend a good 'smith to drill the taper pin holes? I've got the reprofiling and reparkerizing looked after but I need to find someone that has the reamers and skills to do the taper pin holes for me. Anyone?

Tacord is who I'd recommend.

I've also had Doug at Ellwood Epps install a FSB. Price was reasonable and workmanship was good.
