Been thinking about buying a 10/22 and slapping on a boyds evo and 8" dlask.
It's gonna be loud I know. Lol but a nice small rifle for the bush and easy to pack in the jeep

My question is for thoSe who are running or have ran these 8 inch barrels.
Will it be useless for anythjng beyond 50 yards? How would one say it does or
COULD do at 100 yards with a good shooter?

Thanks for any input. And remember, we all like seeing targets ;)

shoots just as accurate as my 20" heavy barrel at 100 and out shoots the stock 16.

accuracy with 22 barrels is more dependent on the quality of the barrel rather then the length for 50-100.

but the long and short of it there is no difference between my 8" barrel and my 20" barrel out to 100.
i havnt tried further then that since my glass on my 8" isnt set up for it.

and i wear ear plugs when i shoot so the sound is no different that ive noticed.
one day i wanna flesh out a db meter so i can compare the sound differences to see if there is anything between them.

Hey thanks a lot. I wouldn't run a real high power (big) optic either. So shots would likely be within 100 yards.
Appreciate the quick reply.

I've done a few... the accuracy is good to 100 meters... and they are a very "wieldy" gun...

My daughter's pinky;

These two are 10 inchers;

I put one together with the stainless dlask 8" and tech sites. I've tried different stocks on it and for now it's in a factory synthetic one that has had the forestock trimmed back(26 1/4) and channelled. I also gave it a full polish . I use it for hunting in tight bush and it tends to be brought the most of all my rimfires because it is so easy to pack. Even fits easily in the quad box . It shoots great!

Thanks for all the replies guys. Everything so far seems to be pretty positive on this. So I have decided to go ahead and build it once time and money allows. I will also be building a custom overhead rifle rack in my 2013 jeep wrangler for this rifle specifically.

A couple not so important questions as well if you all don't mind.
What type of velocity decrease are you guys getting with your run of the mill HV ammo?
And for starters I wanna see if I can open up the barrel channel and chop down and finish a factory wood stock, does anyone have a measurement from but plate to thread tip in a factory wood stock? AaronV mentioned 26 1/4 inches, would that be the same in a wood stock? And as long as it's over 26 inches overall we are good to go and non restricted correct?

Are you using a Ruger receiver or Dlask receiver & barrel combo?

You'll likely lose around 50 to 80 fps in muzzle velocity compared to a full 16 inch barrel. But other than that there won't be any accuracy issues.

But I guess to answer more fully. The reason want to go with an 8 inch is this,

Something Com pact, and menouverable for hauling through the bush. Lightweight for long hikes or hunts ( as well for the girlfriend, if she likes mine I'll build her a pink one). And my 2 door jeep doesn't have a lot of cargo room so again the smaller the better. And if it can shoot tighter groups than factory barrel.... perfect!
