8 pellet Flitecontrol

Ok, but I am interested in 10 pellet 000 buckshot.
I have 2 loads from Winchester and Remington on the way. And I will be testing those in the spring.

Are you saying I should create a new thread just for that?
You do you boo. I'm not telling you that you can't post here. All I'm saying is that if you're asking me how many flyers out of 10 pellet, idk. I don't shoot the stuff.

Ok, thanks .... others might have experience with 10 pellet 000 ... and they might want to share their experience. I would appreciate it.
It's been many years since I tested it, but from what I remember it threw fairly tight and evenly spaced patterns from both my and my friend's IC choked barrels.

A very experienced buckshot hunter told me it was the most overall effective readily available factory buckshot round for hunting larger game. "It snaps bones like matchsticks" was how he described it.

I have shot and patterned a lot of Flightcontrol loads .... None ever gave me any flyers.

9 Pellet Low Recoil Flightcontrol load at 20 meters .... and from a Cylinder choke ....

Since we kinda talking about BS (Buck Shot) performance, I'm thinking I'm going to want to try some 18 pellet 00, 3.5" outta my A400 Extreme, with an IC and maybe M choke.
& some 18 pellet 10 ga too, outta Browing Gold, just for fun...........to see what they can do.
Wouldn't use them for that regularly.

This will be interesting.

Just playing with 9 pellet Flight Control so far, outta new 1301 Kitten.
Taking large paper on next trip out, to look for flyers.

More fun to come!

They are a bit more expensive though, so will have to save up for some extra $$$, so may be a bit before I can report back on that trial.

Those tools, are not just black or green.
Have a bit of green on both of them though...

Ooooff!? My shoulder hurts just looking at them. Shoot a video if you're able, I'd love to see those cannons in action!

When was the last time you’ve seen 8 pellets 00 LEO federal buckshot in stock in Canada ?
Very good point .... I think it never made it to Canada ....... in over 10 years I have never seen it for sale in Canada.

I got some LE133 in maybe 2022? It was with the older style box though. Pretty sure it was from FOC and/or SFRC

Since most LE agencies ditched shotguns for rifles, it hasn't been brought in very much at all. When shotguns were the norm, a lot of agencies still didn't use it due to the fallacy of wanting full power loads. It's a shame, because it's an awesome load and would sell if it was mainstream and not just in their LE line. Another part - albeit small - is the cost to make it. copper plated shot as well as shot buffer adds to the cost vs lead only.

i have some remington 000 buckshot , eight pellet two and three quarter 1350 feet per second . the box says full choke is the best option. played with some cheap oo buckshot last weekend and tried some different guns and barrels .good patterns from a 20 inch cylinder bore berreta also similar results from a remington 20 inch improved cylinder. poor results from a 14 inch remngton fixed choke modified. kinda disappointing on that one. on Monday tried a dlask 12.5 cylinder barrel and pleasantly surprised . going to try the 000 buckshot and see what results i get . will try a full choke as recommend by Remington.

got a chance to shoot a round of triple aught twelve gauge remington two and three quarter 1325 feet per second eight pellet. seven pellets in four and a half inch group with one flyer five inches from the group.twenty five yards , full choke twenty five inch barrel on a remington 870 . the instructions on the box recommended a full choke. the tightest group i have ever shot discounting the flyer.

Wait a min ..... you did have a flyer with an 8 pellet load? I thought 8 pellet loads do not do flyers ..... 🙄

Here is another one from last week end ..... 8 pellet load of 000 Buck ...

And we all can count pellets ..... right?

---------------------

Firearm: Remington 870 with Rifle Sights
Gauge: 12ga
Barrel length: 20”
Choke: Trulock Boar Blaster Choke .700
Ammunition: Federal 12ga, 000 Buckshot, 8 Pellet, 2 3/4 inch
Distance to target: 30 meters
Target: Circle is 9 inches in diameter (small pie plate)

This was the target (below) ... and the 8th pellet was nowhere to be seen on the paper.

That 8th pellet surely went through one of the 7 holes in the paper and without leaving a trace ..... what else could it be?

8 pellet loads don't do flyers !!!!!

Patterning_Frame._lowres.jpg

But .... I still call this success .... one of the best patterns I ever got with larger buckshot .... better than any Flightcontrol load I ever tested... :D

What caliber pellet is in the 000 load again?
