I have a few Steyr Prohunter rifles that are my favourite hunting rifles. Ugly, but deadly accurate and I rather like the wheel safety. I thought the barrels were cryofit (proper term?) such that the barrels could not be replaced, though. The price of this 375 is reasonable, I really have no need for such a calibre (but I'm trying to find one)

What's the point? I am all for capacity but seems pointless in a bolt action hunting rifle.

Like all great artists whoever created this masterpiece will not be appreciated in his lifetime

I have nothing against 'them', just that I appreciate the look of something more along the lines of a traditional hunting rifle. However, while not for me, different strokes for different folks and if that meets the taste of others, I don't knock it, go for it.

I liked my former Steyr Big Bore unit in .450 Marlin for bush work. These rifles shoot tight and handle well, though I found the snap in spacer setup for the butt pad a tad cheapy along with the hollowness of the buttstock . A big magazine on one of these be of no use fer me as it screws up the handling.

When this is on a charge I doubt you would be able to get 8 rounds off...

Its not the charge when more rounds are required, its during the initial greeting. If the first round doesn't anchor him, he'll typically turn and run while you run your rifle dry trying to knock him down. Only when he reaches cover and turns to face you, are you only afforded that single opportunity to get it right. Most buffalo don't charge, even fewer charge unwounded.

That setup is not all that far away from my Steyr Dragoon Scout in .376 Steyr. The H&H just adds 10% more horsepower.

Truth be told, I'm completely okay with only 90% of the horsepower that's in the .375 H&H in my rifle. Given the very low probability of me ever hunting in Africa I think that the 4,200 lb-ft of muzzle energy out of the .376 is more than enough given that the rifle weighs a little over six and a half pounds.
