Hello all, I have a 8 x 57S along with all I need to load. However the fellow I received materials from said all the brass was with it. When I read the back of the brass it all says 8mm not 8 x 57. I tried measuring but cannot do it accurately enough to determine the specs from one to anotheras per loading manuals specs. So, I guess my question is can I use this brass or must I source out 8 x 57 brass? I can't seem to find anything on just 8mm in reloading books. Only 8mm REM MAG. Thanks in advance for the help.

Does the empty brass chamber in the rifle? If it does, it is probably a 8x57.

Lube a case and size it until die hits the shellholder. If it does not take a lot of effort, it is probably a 8x57.

Does the sized case look about the same as an unsized case? If so, it is probably a 8x57.

What else is on the headsatamp? S&B? Lapua? Federal? etc

Thank you gentlemen. I did just that with the dies and in looking up the shell holder# thier in bold print and brackets beside 8 x 57 was (8mm Mauser). Yes it fit quite easily in the die as well.
For the record the marks on the case looked like NNY except the N's looked more like staples straight one side, across and down the other. Any, got things figured oput so thanks for the help. Cheers.

8mm, 8x57, or 7.92x57 is all the same stuff. You can always compare a picture on the web, I'm sure there is a million or more pictures floating around.

PRVI is excellent brass BTW.
