Is this correct? I thought all lowers were considered the firearm, and had to be registered? :confused:
 
AFAIK their not cut and drilled to accept any parts so they cant yet be considered a firearm.

Shouldn't be any more difficult than registering the SAS Stens that have been extensively discussed here, and at the other forum.

I'm going to register the part that holds the trigger pack as the receiver as I may, down the road, make a .308 or 9mm mag well for it. Similar to the modular AR15's a US company was marketing.

Then again, what I consider the receiver and what the RCMP consider the receiver can be two very different things.

In the end, I assume it will come down to which part gets the serial number.

ok, if it has an ar 180, trigger group but can use ar15 upper Could it be non restrected?? or did i just inhale some funky cat nip?

I have already built an aluminum lower for the 180B that looks more like an AR15. In my talks with the RCMP firearms analyst, I was told that as long as it can't fire an AR15 upper, it isn;t an AR15. So one of the main criteria for making something an AR15 variant is if it can fire an AR15 upper.



Just to make it clear to every one, the bolt together lower I'm thinking of making is a personal project done on my own for myself. There is no chance it would be made for retail sale.
 
An AR10 lower can't fire an AR15 upper but it is still a Variant. It is hard to say what they will rule until after you have done it.
