Decided to try and use up my excessive supply of Dominion 800x. Decided on the 243 as it would make for fun target and critter loads. The 800x in the Tikka T3 wouldn't elevate the heavier projectiles very well, but the 55 grain varmageddin performed amazing well. 9.2 grains was doing sub moa at 100yds. Clover leaf groups at 5" low. At 10.5g it started to go squirrelly, so there may be a sweeter spot somewhere between.

Interesting. Any idea what the muzzle velocity is?

800-X is actually a pretty versatile powder. It's also one of the most temperamental I have ever worked with as far as going from fine to wild pressure spikes. Take your time with your development!

I would agree with you on both counts. I use it alot, especially in 12 ga. Some people have issues with metering which could certainly explain some spikes, but personally I havent had issues. Although I hand weigh for reduced loads of course.

Even after dropping the load 20% I nearly blew up a gun from a simple primer swap. I love the stuff myself, I always find it for super cheap. It does meter like corn flakes from some throwers but my Dillon is very consistent with it. Been using it for light .45 Colt lately. Single digit spreads so hard to argue with that.
