80gr bullet in 270wsm?

yes they do and i would want it for shooting coyotes and possibly for long range fun, that's why Im asking. thanks for the answer

It is likely you will get poor accuracy from the bullets that are too light. I have tried the light ones, accuracy starts with 110 grain in my rifle.(Browning)
The only way to know for sure is to try.
Carry on!

i know very little about reloading but i am thinking about starting. can you not put a smaller load of powder in there to compensate for the light weight and possibly reduce the recoil? I am really just trying to figure out what the possibilities for my favorite gun are.

110gr VMAX's are my bullet of choice for coyote using my .270 win. I've tried the lighter 90gr & 100gr Speer bullets, but the 110gr VMAX's gave me better accuracy. I've never seen .277 dia. bullets lighter than 90gr.

No, no and no. Light powder charge don't even try. If they do make lighter bullets like 80grs or whatever weights get yourself a reloading manual and read it from one end to the other before you even think of actually reloading.

Too light of a charge can be as dangerous as to heavy of a charge. I agree with the guys too light of a bullet in a big caliber rifle u could be all over the map when it comes to accuracy at longer distance. The rate of twist of the rifling in your barrel is also important. A rule of thumb would be a light bullet with a slower rate of twist and a heavy bullet with a faster rate of twist, but it's only a rule of thumb not written in stone.

Safest way to get started read and read some more.

Just my two cents

I wouldnt' even bother with an 80gr if you want to shoot far. Listen to the guys who brought up the 110 gr. bullets, that would be my choice for a light bullet in a 270 (win or wsm). Reloading manuals are you friend, also check out the Hodgdon website for data.
