I am thinking of getting an 858 with the original folding stock.

I would be interested in hearing from owners how they like these folding stocks. Do they wobble? Are they comfortable to shoot? Would the fixed stock be better?

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks.

It will do the job.
Nothing fancy or flashy though :)
I would say in length it's similar to the second position on the M4's collapsible stock.
Shoot the hell out of it first and switch for something different later...or maybe not ;)

I have two 858s with both a folding and non folding stock and I like the folder,,both for use and for looks. It feels a little short at first but you get used to to the length after shooting it a bit..The one I have is tight and does not wobble at all.
Hope this helps good luck!!

Some of the older , heavily used folders will develop some wobble , but that's not too hard to fix.The new-in-the-grease folders are sometimes too tight to lock properly.

One technique is to swap the "hinge shafts ( not the right name , but YKWIM ) between the old & new folders. There is also an adjustment spot/tab that controls the interface between the folding parts of the stock.
I have never messed with that method because switching the shafts seemed easier to me.

In my experience the fixed stock is more comfortable, the folder more convenient. The folder is not forgiving on your cheek bone and not conducive to the world's greatest cheek weld.

There are LOTS of better aftermarket options out there if you need a folding or collapsible stock. Depends whether you want that milsurp look or the black rifle look.
