858 in .22LR conversion

I would totally be down for a .22lr 858 conversion kit but I can understand people not caring with $160 crates of surplus.

I wonder how something like this would work though, you'd have to loosen the spring considerably and insert a .22lr magazine into one of the 7.62x39 bananas like they do on the enfield 7.62x39 conversions and put a barrel sleeve into the chamber. It would probably require a whole new bolt. This would not be cheap. How much do other similar conversion kits cost? My friend told me once that he'd probably just buy a 10/22 instead of paying a few hundred to convert one of his guns to .22lr, I totally disagree. I'd love nothing more than blasting 50 rounds out of my 858.

That was NEA who was going to produce that for Wolverine. We have decided that it is much more cost efficient to produce a 10/22 chassis that looks like an 858 and uses 858 furniture.

Yeah I agree, not worth it. Surplus is very cheap, u get some recoil, some kick and noise. Its not worth getting a 22 conversion. If you really want a 22 semi-auto just wait for the COLT.

IMHO, a factory built/modified 858 in .22 would be an awesome rifle and I would buy one at the standard 858 price.

Conversion kit, or 10/22 stock...not really interested.

I'll pass on the colt... after all the reviews, it seems to be pure crap with quality. The sig 522 is what interests me most. Questar says the quality in that one is very surprising.

Sure, I`m not fixed on the colt but where can I find someone that sells this rifle and how much does it cost? I looked on Questar and found nothing.
