Bought a cz 858 recently and when I shoot it the first time the poi seemed to move from side to side. Also the target that was included with the rifle showed it doing the same thing. It moves about eight inches side to side. The lower hand guard has a lot of slop in it both up and down and side to side. I wonder if this could have anything to do with it. Any thoughts on this.

It could be that the front anchoring point was sloppy?. Or a heavy trigger may force you to pull to one side without knowing it.
For this reason I would never own a pump action rifle.:popCorn:

Shoot it more. Run a fvcking case through her son. Test that sh!t out. Practice. Practice. Practice.lol.

I had one and I did not notice any shift in poi left to right unless I switched from Surplus to PP factory, then I noticed a considerable left to right shift in poi, like about 3-4" or so. However when I went back to Surplus, the poi shifted right back again. I also noticed the 858 I had would shoot poorly when it was cold and the groups would tighten up when the barrel warmed up. It was very accurate though.

Edit: I did not have any loose handguard issues. I would suggest taking off the handguards and take a looksee - I think the lower one is held on with a cross pin in the lower front of the reciever - never took it off to check.

My lower forend has so much slop as both the front and rear furrels are loose and the hole for the retaining pin seems oversized. I suppose I could epoxy the furrels to the wood but there would still be some slack due to the large hole for the retaining pin. I might look in to the bc tactical forend pieces. Has any body used them?
