Ok, so I go into my local gunshop looking for the usual deals (ammo, red dot etc.) and spot a nice CZ 858 with a folding stock. While I'm looking at it, the guy behind the counter pops his 0.02 cents in and says "you're not actually thinking of buying that are you? You know it's gonna be a prohib in a couple months once the registry gets tanked..."

I asked right away, where he was getting his intel (I'm a skeptic to say the least) and he says that he was told via RCMP to suspend and report all sales. :onCrack:

I inquired as to his source but got no definitive answers. Has anyone else heard this rumour (I actually told him to not spread this crap unless it was in writing, he claimed he got his info here on CGN!!!)

Is there any truth to his rumour or is this just hype? I know that Wendy and the CGC has has a real hard*&n for this platlform but this is the first I've heard of this.

unless they want a full scale uprisal on their hands which they dont, they will leave the most popular "black/red" rifle in Canada alone.

I would be more worried about well... pretty much everything else.

Hopefully they will screw up so bad that we can call them out on it and get all of this firearm law/RCMP classification bullsh!t resolved.

Its all hearsay.. the anti's are scaring people since gun nutz are coming out with all these new tactical guns its scaring them :) just look at the 8inch grizzly shotgun mounted with a pistol grip. I say buy what ever you want. I personally will NEVER surrender a firearm.

Im sure a dealer can chime in here and confirm if the RCMP said to suspend and report all sales of the 858 ? sounds like BS to me..

he says that he was told via RCMP to suspend and report all sales.

If you suspend all sales, how do you report them????

And by reporting sales....you mean he'd have to transfer registration to the buyer and notify the CFC? How is that surprising exactly??

Hype from someone that doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground . A 2 buck over minimum wage counter clerk .

Not this s**t again.f:P:

IF they were going to do it, there's currently no legal mechanism other than the "easy to make full-auto" schtick.

IF they were going to do it, why in God's name would they wait til AFTER the registry ended?

If you're going to listen to gunstore BS and make decisions based on it, best not buy any guns at all. Wendy, the Libs, the NDP and the RCMP want ALL of them, eventually.

There are far too many CZ's in Canada for them to try a stunt like this. However, take a look at the rest of Canada's gun laws. Making sense isn't the anti's highest priority.

At the end of the day, if we can make it past the death of the registry we'll be fine.

I personally will NEVER surrender a firearm.

I didn't surrender my Feather AT-22 , SPAS-12 or Stryker . They came to the door with a confiscation order . Legally purchased and legally registered . No compensation and i never got them back . Happened to lots of us . The only purpose of a gun registry is for future confiscation .

I just heard the same thing about AR-15s from Joe Dlask at his shop a couple days ago:

"You don't have AR-15? You need to get AR-15! They going to prohib soon! At least get receiver!"

Now I've found myself shopping.......

If they do prohibit the 858 before the registry ends, report a boating accident. Problem solved.

"So you’re saying you lost the firearm when your little 14 foot aluminum boat sank right here, the deepest part of the whole lake/ocean?"

"Yep, it sure did officer, HONEST!"

While I appreciate most the guys behind the counter, it definatly depends who you get. Like the guy from wholesale sports that told me using 150 gr nosler partitions federal premiums out of my 270wsm, a shoulder should would blow the neck half of the animal off.

Just take it all with a grain of salt, same as any random guy regarding firearm facts

Scare tactics are the best sales tool because they play on emotions which often override logic. Look at the US and how gun sales went nuts after Obama got elected because he was going to "ban everything". Still hasn't happened and in all likelihood will not.

Great sales tool, "This puppy gonna be prohibited in a few days, better buy one", cha-ching. Sounds like crap to me. The Rob Arms XCR's are here and 858 is gonna be prohib, no bloody way. Guy was trying to sell you a rifle.

Sooo.....

The counter sales guy talked you 'out' of buying his own store's stock in favor of peddling some murky tale.

I'm just guessing, but he's not the store owner is he.

I had a Spas-12 whose previous owner was the Barrie Police Force. They sold it to a gun shop after the powers that be said it looked to deadly. I had it for about two years and luckily sold it about 6 months before the Ban.

probably not, as he is in the toilet for re-election.
