870 barrels- dlask vs dominion arms

Not too long ago I was told that the bead sight will be standard on 14".
Well, I guess I will pass.

NEA posted that they had a problem getting the beads they wanted a while back. In a way it's a good thing as the end user can choose but the price should reflect the unfinished nature of the product.

that's just not an acceptable price for a barrel that still has to go to a gunsmith for work before it's even a finished product. I would hope that either the price or the product could be fixed.

If they're going to sell them without a bead I'd much rather buy it in the white since I'd be soldering on the pedestal base for a bead or rifle sights and I'd need to refinish the barrel anyway.

If you plan to add a rear sight to your gun, the bead will be far to low. Most of my guns are set up this way and a quick look through the posts here with guys showcasing their guns will confirm they also do the same. For me, i prefer a wilson style barrel band and am happy there is no bead.

A quick look through the Remington website reveals that a good number of shot guns now come with a rear ghost ring, or at least come drilled and tapped now for a rail.

barrels

Yep...

I would like to see the option of an unfinished barrel...as in no bead and no external finish.
Most of us would rather choose and install our own front site option as well as finish the barrel to match the rest of our project.
Save me having to remove the crappy bead and finish that they wasted time and expense applying and charging me for.

While they're at it they could manufacture the damn things in mod choke.
For the few that want to end up at cylinder bore (a useless choke in even a short barrel gun IMO) it's a simple matter to ream out but the rest of us can't add material to get back to mod!!!

A 12.5 and 14in in the white/mod choked/naked barrel please.....I'll take 4 of em' !

In order to fit a 8.5" barrel on your SG, you need to have the magazine tube permanently modified, along with the action bars.

Now, wonder how much $$ it would be to have these 12.5" already threaded for chokes :)

Well I'm planning on putting it on a grizzly box mag fed shotguin. Do they make the magazine fed shotgun with the 8.5? I have no problems modifying the mag tube and action bars.

Unless you have access to a machine shop and have the exact measurements... it's not something the average guy can do at home.

Right now, only Dlask makes a after market 8.5" barrel... and he also does the modification on people's gun.

This is a 6.5" barrel... if you're going to go short, might just as well go all the way!

So just email dlask and get them to make me a short barrel? Thanks!

Machinist here, btw.

.. It does reflect that the $1.50 bead sight is not installed.

In fact when beads are added, we won't raise the price later on you.

Fair enough. It's still a very expensive product that competes against a very inexpensive version. I'm just saying get all your ducks in a row and sharpen the pencil. I'd like to be a customer but these just cost too much. I recently bought a single point cut rifled made in America Krieger barrel for not much more than this. Capitalism is a wonderful thing but educated consumers might be an issue for you.

Would I like to see it cheaper? Sure...

But the price is pretty much on par with what Dlask is asking... Considering it is somewhat of a niche product and Remington will not sell you one... I think the price is reasonable.

I am not in the barrel manufacturing business, so please take this with a grain of salt.

;)

The price is dead on for a Dlask or factory Remington barrel. They all sell for the same amount. To find a new factory 14" barrel that isn't already attached to a gun is very hard.

A Remington is Mod choke, parkerized finish and has a pedestal base soldered on. It's not cheap to pay a 'smith to solder on the base and refinish the barrel, neverming getting a choke tube installed.

Nice to see that they're willing to sell one in the white though.

I have a Dlask and a Remington 14". They were both about the same price as is being asked for these, but you get more. Remington has the pedestal base and fixed modified choke. Dlask has threaded choke tube and blade sight. Those are expensive things to get done by a gunsmith. By the time I ship a barrel insured back and forth to a smith and get a sight base soldered on with a bead like remington has its gonna be easily a hundred bucks or more all together not $1.50 as was suggested. To try and tell a customer he is only losing a value of $1.50 by not having any sights on a barrel is either an insult or an assumption of stupidity quite frankly.

I was hoping by making some suggestions NEA might try to earn some some business by addressing the issue. Instead I get told the missing bead is only worth $1.50. Maybe the list of gunsmiths that install sight beads for that price could be provided? Sorry to get snarky but that was insulting.

I'll just buy remington barrels when I see them. Limited availabilty but they show up now and then.

14" barrels are readily available for $150. Not hard to find at all.
