I just picked up an 870 super mag, kind of on a whim...lol..Any thoughts? I have shot the 3" model before and liked it, but never fired 3.5".

She will be used mostly for ducks and geese over water, and some field use as well. I will also be using it as a slug gun come deer season.

I know it isnt standard for a post-purchase review but hey I give it a shot.

They can have issues with spent shells sticking in the chamber. This is a bigger problem with the cheap target loads. I would not buy an express again.

I have two I have never had a problem with them they are little picky with some target loads but other than that I think they are great.

I can imagine the 3.5s kick like a mule. The 3 inch in my 870 knock me back pretty good with slugs and buck. Waterfowl mag rounds shoot quite well, but but not far from becoming uncomfortable. 3 1/2s sound like bruisers

The 3.5 inchers do push back a bit harder. They aren't too bad. I have a mossberg 835 and it handles them well. I think you'll like the extra take down power more than you'll not like the extra recoil.

I had one for a while. Liked my $100 Mossberg 500 better so I traded it. There were no real issues with the gun. It just didn't feel right.
