870 express Vs. wingmaster.

I have a 870 express and have not had any problems with the gun in any way. Most people I talk to about guns say that the 870 is a very reliable shotgun. I guess it depends on the person and there likes and dislikes.

No doubt the 870 is likely the best and most popular pump gun ever made. Only thing in it's league would be the Win M12.

The 870 action is tough as nails and will go forever. That is one of the reason's LE and Mil use it so much.

The only issue is the Express is made to a cheaper standard. Same action but machining and finishing is not close to what a Wingmaster gets.

Either way, you still get the same bullet proof action.

shoot 10 boxes of duck loads a year maybe then the express works fine shoot 5 cases of duckloads a year it cannot take the pounding, wingmasters have and also if you want an opinion so can Browning gold hunters....

Sorry waterfowler Late add. YES THE MODEL 12 WAS A GREAT ONE HAVE A 1958 3" SITTING IN MY SAFE THAT HAS HAD AT LEAST 10,000 ROUNDS THROUGH IT EVERY PART HAS BEEN REPLACED AND IT WORKS JUST FINE

I got the express super mag. I've put 100+ rounds of 3 1/2" 1 1/4 load steel shot threw it, about 50 rounds of long range lead #4 and hundred or so short range and i've had not 1 jam or misfire.

Reddog what part of the express Can't take loads of waterfowl rounds?

FIRING pin spring has broken twice , pin hammer spacer has twisted, slides have jammed ,mag tube feeder has been in numerous times ,did I get a bad one no I got 2 :( :( :(

It's not just the fine blueing,or the best wood used!! Many gun makers mic the pieces and the closest to true tolerance go into the top of the line in that model!!! The rest get assembled into a lesser model of the same gun!

You will not get shotguns made by hand from step one to finish, unless you buy them from the era they were made like that(1905-?) and 1905-48,then 48-58,then modern hand made, hand fitted shotguns(damn near out of most of our reach)!!

The last shotgun I bought was an A5 light twelve(1957) it weighs less than my Rem 1100!!

You get what you pay for,the wingmaster is quality(but too much if all you want is an entry gun!!!)!

I would, just once, like to meet someone with a broken Express.

My clients haven't had any problems with them. Most of the 870's I've worked on, have now been Expresses.

RePete.
I've never had problems with mine either...it's a rugged gun, a true 870.
