So I got an 870 express tactical in the spring, and put a few hundred rounds through it so far. It was working great until doing some skeet shooting today.
I noticed then when closing it on an empty chamber I would have to slam it to close it all the way, otherwise it would jam just short of closing.
When I was done shooting slamming it closed didn't work and I couldn't close the action all the way. It worked fine when closing it on a round.
On closer inspection the extractor was getting hung up on the edge of the extractor groove on the barrel which is now peened/the metal is slightly folded into the extractor groove.
I also noticed my extractor seems to close/curl in towards the center of the bolt more than other 870's I have seen.

Anyone have any idea how I should go about fixing/getting it repaired?

Your barrel may not be indexed properly in the receiver.

Reassemble and make sure the extractor lines up properly with the notch in the barrel without drag. Filing the burrs off the barrel notch would be a good idea. And the extractor, if peened.
Also make sure the opposite grove in the barrel hood fits properly around the front tip of the ejector.

If you're forcing something, you're doing it wrong.

The ejector(not extractor) is riveted onto the receiver wall. The front portion fits the notch on the barrel. Sometimes the ejector breaks which allows the barrel to rotate.

Check that the forend nut is tight, if loose it can hit the barrel ring and not allow the bolt to close.

next time a gun isn't working right don't 'slam' it to force it to function. It's too bad you chose to damage your gun instead of determining what was wrong

The barrel is lined up properly, the forend nut is tight and the ejector isn't broken.

The problem is the nose(most forward part) of the extractor is hitting the sharp part where the extractor groove and bore meet. It lines up with the extractor groove, but the nose of the extractor is sitting to close to the center line of the barrel.

And to edit me first post slam was a bad description, I was just not babying it, but still using less force than I do chambering a round.

Wiggle the extractor with your finger and feel if the extractor spring is broken.

Also, the extractor may have been fitted incorrectly. If you can't figure it out, you may have to return it for repair.

Do you have another bolt you can try?

Could it also be the burrs around the locking notch under the barrel hood and causing some miss-alignment and not locking up properly?

This makes the most sense. I'll scrounge a bolt from someone to test it.
Who would I have to contact if I did need to get it repaired? It should still have some warranty left, I haven't had it for a year yet.
