870 forearm issue - update!!

If you want to pay for postage, I'll lend you mine and you can return it when you're done. PM me your address and I'll make it so. I'm in Kitch.

Or you can use this high-tech, space age, super expensive tool that is only available to elite military teams, the spoon!

Pfffffffft, you're a poser dude, everyone knows the elite miitary spoons are black, with a picatinny rail for a handle :ninja:

I preffer the socket style, and cheaper than brownells.

Yes, this one is on there REAL good. I intended on putting the "wrench" in the vise and turning the forearm around that.

Not sure if even that will be enough. I'd use heat on it, but then I'd burn the wood!! LOL

Some older 870's have rusted on nuts. Try a little penetrating oil like WD40 and let it sit for a while. I have seen some so tight and rusted that we had to break off the wooden forend to get the nut off. Good luck. Phil

UPDATE:

I just wanted to thank Easy for the kind use of his wrench at no charge other than postage.

It's great that there are so many people on this board who are willing to help out another "nut" simply because they can.

Thanks Easy, and thanks all for the input. My new forearm is on and we are cooking with gas.

Had 'er to the range today for a couple of test shots... ;)

I know this is an old thread but what is the OD of a rem 870 forearm tube? I'd like to make a wrench similar to the pipe nipple one in earlier post and I forgot to measure mine and won't e home for another wk .... thx
