870 forestock removal tool

I recently bought one from S&J. However shortly afterwards I read a really well written thread here about the 870, and according to the author, you can use the slide assembly as a fore end removal tool.

I made a socket out of piece of 1" pipe ground and filed to fit the tube nut altho I now have the correct tool.

fplease please dont use your part #57 to do this!!!!
yes you can use pliers id your parts are not rusty or the wood thats been on for 30yrs has n not shrank.
The threads are very fine and easy to damage.
The cheap was to do it it to make your owen tool or buy one of ours, to run the risk of damaging 50-100$ in parts.

we have a few dealers close to TO that you can pick one of theses up from.
