I want to get a different choke (IC) for my grizzly..I think someone mentioned in one of the threads that it uses a Browning invector choke...I just want to make sure before I order one ..Kind of looks more like a Stoger choke..

Between the Mossberg Accu-Choke, Winchoke and Browining Invector, what options are there for a rifled choke tube?

IIRC, there's an extended rifled choke by Browning. Are there any others?

I'm interested in trying out the rifled choke with both slugs and shot (namely grouse loads). I've heard of others getting IC patterns with flush rifled chokes and would like to see if I can achieve the same in the Grizzly. I'd love to be able to shoot slugs with rifled barrel accuracy while being able to shoot close flushing grouse, rabbits etc. with the same choke and a simple change of ammunition.

Hi,

Would you be able to provide some further info about your rifled choke experience?

I.e. What rifled choke were you using, what kind of slugs (sabot, Foster, Brenneke etc.), and what do you mean about choke seizing up? Is it stuck?

I'm thinking of ordering a slug mould from Lee Precision. They are smooth sided slugs that sit in a regular shot cup, which engages the rifling in a rifled barrel or choke tube.

A friend of mine once tried a Challenger slug in his Remington 870 with a rifled choke attached. The rifling on the slug responed poorly to the choke and shot off about two-three feet from point of aim at around 40 yards.

The 1oz lee slugs work great in my 12.5 inch Grizzly with the Mod choke...they seem more accurate than factory slugs..I want to try an IM...and see if they are more accurate..

When you say that the 1 oz slugs give good accuracy, could you give a ballpark figure for range and group size? I've just been teetering back and forth on deciding whether to get a 7/8 or 1 oz mould.

I'll probably be ordering an IC and full accuchoke for the Grizzly and my Savage 24F (also modified tube, plus interested in trying with slugs). If the slugs and shot perform well enough with an IC choke I may just leave it at that, though I'm still interested in a rifled choke if one's available for a reasonable cost.
