Ok, this is probably going to sound stupid but with the 870 top folding stock, what are those holes for? lol. Are you suppose to put your shells in there? Is is just to make the stock lighter? Thanks.

I have one on one of my 870s already and I don't have any issues with shooting it. I was just trying to figure out a place to put on some extra shells. It's presently on my zombie killer, or the bear defense gun as it is currently being used for. I'd just like to be able to carry a few extra shells. They do fit into those holes, but then if you opened the folder, the shells would fall out. I did see a pic today in the ee forms of a Hatsan Escort with a shell carrier taped to the folder. Looks cool actually.

According to a guy on AR15.com, you can adapt a side-saddle to a factory folder. According to this person:

"...What I did is I got bolts 1/4" longer that the ones included with the sidesaddle, and used some 1/4" nylon spacers between the sidesaddle and the receiver. This effectively created a channel for the stock arm to fold into when in the up position, between the sidesaddle and the receiver.
Worked out great, and it's solid."

You could also attach an ATI shell holder on the top of the folder:
