870 Lightest Furniture

I have an older Remington 870 Express Magnum with 28" Barrel and full wood furniture. It weighs a fair bit, as I've learned by humping it through the bush. In a few months I'm going to be doing a lot of bush bashing - so I'd like to shorten it up, and maybe swap out the heavier wood for something lighter and synthetic.

Does anyone know what the exact difference in weight between the factory standard wood vs. synthetic? Are there third party stock sets that weigh even less?

The difference between my wood stock v.s my synthetic is .4 of a pound. Wood weighs 3 pounds and the synthetic weighs 2.6 pounds. Hope this helps.

Do they make a 870 20gauge in synthetic or are their aftermarket synthetic parts for it?

Im not sure if they make a 20 gauge synthetic. I bought my stocks aftermarket for my 12 gauge 3'' magnum 870.

that is the only reason i went with the 535 . i found all the 870 express like boat paddels . way to heavy DUTCH

Ya I found it is a pretty heavy duty gun. Like carrying a lead bar. lol I think it is actually the heaviest gun in my collection.
