I have an older 870 Wingmaster that I just bought, and when I disassembled it, the locking block assembly within the bolt simply falls out. On my Marine Magnum, there is a pin that prevents this from happening. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that there is no provision for a pin on the older assembly, unlike the newer Marine Magnum bolt. The Wingmaster fires, cycles and ejects fine. Did Remington originally manufacture the bolts with locking block assemblies that came apart when removed from the gun? If so, what prompted the change to the retaining pin?
