870 mag tube extension question

Hey folks.

So I have a older wingmaster wearing what I believe is a factory 20” Remington barrel. I just bought a +3 Remington mag extension for it and when I tighten the mag extension down it doesn’t seat down tight to the barrel ring leaving a approx 1/16” inch gap so there’s a bit of play in the barrel.

What’s the fix for this? Can I install a wavy washer to fix this? Give me advice lol

Genuine Remington extensions are(were?) 2 piece extensions. What I used to do is put the nut on first as tight as I want it. Then I would put blue loctite on the mag tube and screw it into the nut until it buts up against the shotgun mag tube. Leave it for a couple of hours and you should be good to go.

This is a one piece extension so perhaps it’s not Remington brand. I will include pics when I get a chance.
 
I’d be tempted to fill the gap with something like this on a police-style setup.

You need to unscrew the nut from the body.

It’s not obvious if you’ve never used one. After installing the nut you tighten the tube until meets up with the magazine tube. That way there is no gap inside for the follower to hang up on. Aftermarket tubes will have a very slight gap for tolerance. The clamp stops the tube from unscrewing.

You’re lucky to find one since they went bankrupt. The ones that I’ve come across recently people want an arm and a leg for even if incomplete (no clamp). Gone are the days of cheap take-offs from the likes of S&J. Should have grabbed one or two when I had the chance.

Hopefully we start to see more models showing up in Canada soon. Only seem to be bringing in 12ga Tac 14s.

It wasn’t cheap ($180) but it was complete and looks like new. And what I needed for the look I was going for.
No I just need to find a +1 for the shorty

 
Unfortunately they never made a corresponding +1. It also looks like you’re missing the barrel clamp. I would not consider that complete as that’s what stops the tube from loosening, especially at that price. I think Numrich may have the barrel clamp. Nice looking shotgun though. Dig the rifle sights with the older 18” barrel.

They did come out with a +1 for the Tac 14 but i don’t personally care for the look and I’m sure it would be difficult to find someone willing to part with it.

Scattergun Tech, S&J, Vang Comp and TacOrd all make +1s though.

Just remembered that Sage International does make a +1 based off the Remington design. Looks like it uses a Remington nut with their own tube. Tempted to get one myself. No idea who carries them or if they’d ship up here. I’d likely use locktite so the tube doesn’t unscrew itself.

Rem manufactured/distributed a parkerized 1 piece tube extension w/ sling tab & 3/8" QD sling swivel hole in the end for LE/Mil guns......years ago.

Nordic Components Mag tube nuts & extension tubes/end caps are 2nd to NONE...in the industry.
