870 mag tube extension question

Rem manufactured/distributed a parkerized 1 piece tube extension w/ sling tab & 3/8" QD sling swivel hole in the end for LE/Mil guns......years ago.

Nordic Components Mag tube nuts & extension tubes/end caps are 2nd to NONE...in the industry.

The Remington versions were blued too

Unfortunately they never made a corresponding +1. It also looks like you’re missing the barrel clamp. I would not consider that complete as that’s what stops the tube from loosening, especially at that price. I think Numrich may have the barrel clamp. Nice looking shotgun though. Dig the rifle sights with the older 18” barrel.

He won’t be able to use a REM clamp with that barrel. The front sight is in the way. Needs a longer barrel like in the photo above.
I don’t think that a +2 extension would work with that rifle sighted barrels either.

I suspect the OP’s barrel is an 18”, iirc the +3 extension is flush with the 20”. The 18” barrel and +2 are flush, I’ve got a +2 and a 20” turkey barrel with rifle sights and the factory clamp clears the front sight base.

Or maybe the +3 was meant for the bead or raised bead sighted barrels.

I do believe that the front sight ramp will not interfere with clamp. Take a look at Butcherbill’s photo three posts above. The Remington extension was not designed to work without the clamp. There is nothing stopping the tube, not the union, from loosening itself. That is why the tube is grooved. The screw for the clamp passes through it and prevents the tube from backing out, even if the clamp is loose.

Interesting. You don’t happen to have a photo do you? I’ve never seen one but I sure would like to.

That’s why god made blue loctite. I’ve never had a problem. Sooner or later barrel clamps will start marring the finish. I don’t like the end caps on the Nordic extensions. Much prefer the Remington or tacord one piece

Yes, I’m sure loctite would work just fine. Just trying to explain the purpose of the clamp for the Remington extension. Most other extensions are a single piece (or fused/soldered/brazed together, ie Wilson) and the ball detent is generally sufficient to stop them from loosening.

Indeed, Butcherbill. Forgot that the clamp has an open top to clear the sight.
