I mentioned I would give feedback after my first time out withmy new, unfired Magpul edition 870 Express TAC.

I fired a box of Challenger 7.5 shot, a box of #4 shot Winchester Universal through the gun the other day and about 15 1oz S&B slugs. So, 65 shells in total.

The gun as it looks today after some slights tweaks.

Findings:

- I originally fitted the SGA stock with NO spacers for a tight, compact setup. Once in the field, I could tell this was not comfortable or conducive whith the use of the XS sight. So I've added one spacer and its much better.

- Again, I originally had the medium height cheek riser on the SGA stock, but found it uncomfortable on my face, and had issues getting a sight picture with the ghost rings.
I've since installed the lowest cheek riser which works better for me on the gun.

- I really like the MOE vertical grip. I was not gentle with the gun and racked it forcefully and it cycled great. The grip is stubby, and comfortable. Its still solid and secure in place attached to the forend. Neat system with the bolt , screw and through that rail. A shell holder system on the side of the handguard would be awesome.

- The chamber was quite smooth and polished already, and ejected the Challenger and Slugs best.

- The gun struggled a few times with the Universal shells, as widely documented. I found that if I racked the slide quickly after firing it helped not give the hull enough time to sit in the chamber and stick. An aggressive pump of the action also helped with use of the vertical grip.

- S&J follower worked fine, no issues feeding.

- The gun is 7+1 with an S&J +1 extension installed. At home I was able to install 7 in the tube. At the range, I wasn't able to.
Seems as though at home the followers indents by chance randomly lined up with the mag tube dimples during testing giving the impression that I didn't need to remove the mags dimples.
I've since dremeled the mags dimples flat, and polished the surface so the follower can now pass past them, allowing for 7+1 setup.

- Accuracy with the XS sights was alright, not a tack driver or anything, but slugs and shot went in the general spot I aimed. I was shooting at 10, 25, 50, &60 yrds. Next time I'll bring out the gong and get better insight.

- Feel of the action is better now too. Not so clunky and new feeling as before.

- The rear ghost ring was quite lose after shooting. I didn't check or retight it before though, only the rail. Front sight is good too despite best they were prone to falling off.

Other than that, all went well. I guess I'll see how this is all performing after a few hundred rounds and report back. Shouldn't take long. I'm heading back out in a few days.
